Our Bio

Founded in 1946, The Lincoln Continentals are one of more than 800 chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society throughout the United States and Canada. The original charter members numbered 52 and included businessmen, salesmen, workmen, engineers, and politicians. The Lincoln Continentals have come a long way since their charter was formed, but some things remain the same. We still have a membership dedicated to "barbershopping" and determined to preserve this form of music. Every chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society strives to sustain and preserve an American tradition...singing in the barbershop style. The Barbershop Harmony Society's vision statement says that, "the Society is to be an ever growing fraternity of barbershop style singers, leading the cause of encouraging vocal music in our schools and communities." Every year, the Continentals sing at a variety of venues such as country fairs, the Nebraska State Fair, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, the State Capital, sporting events, local high schools and of course a huge annual show, held in the spring each year. The Continentals have a huge outreach program in which we provide community performances to those who are unable to get out to attend one of our other performances and every year we host at least one music clinic for Nebraska youth. These clinics usually have 250-300 young men from high schools all over Nebraska. CLICK HERE for a picture of our recent Young Men In Harmony event that was held at Waverly High School. We also compete at a district level with more than 13 other choruses every fall. The Lincoln Continentals have consistently maintained their ranking as one of the best barbershop choruses in the state of Nebraska for more than 20 years. We are the current (2008) and 8-time winners of the Central Stats District Plateau AA competition.
