Dale Comer - Director
Dale is originally from Falls City, Nebraska, where he sang in a barbershop quartet in high school. Dale later attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, and while there, he was active in theater, sang bass soloist with the Concert Choir and sand in a number of small choral groups including Wesleyan Men's Quartet. After graduating from Wesleyan with a degree in music education, Dale taught junior and senior high vocal music in Syracuse, Nebraska for three years.
Dale joined the Continentals in 1976 while he was in law school at the University of Nebraska, and became director in of the chorus in 1980. He sang bass in the 1978 Central States District Champion Quartet, The Chord Motor Company and also sang bass with Heartland which qualified to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Quartet Contest in 1998. Dale is also active in the Central States District and the International Barbershop Society. He served as District Music Educator in 1987 and as District Associate Contest and Judging Chairman from 1987 through 1991. Dale became a Certified Sound Judge for the Society in 1984 and served a two year term as Sound Category Specialist. Dale is currently certified as a judge in the Singing category and is a past chairman of the Society's Chorus Director Development Committee. He is in demand as a coach and clinician throughout the Society.
When he is not barbershopping, Dale is an Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Legal Services Bureau of the Nebraska Department of Justice. He is married to Lila, who is a past Regent for Region 20 of Sweet Adeline's. They have two daughters, Sarah and Sally.
